Richnerstutz invests in Swiss large format printer Kudu

Just weeks after installing the new swissQprint Kudu flatbed printer, Richnerstutz is already assessing the results: “For us, it was the right investment. We have increased productivity, we achieve top quality, and our operators are highly motivated.” Rinaldo Stalder, Head of Production and member of the Executive Board, explains that the company looked at several providers before deciding on a replacement for two ageing printers. The choice fell on Kudu, swissQprint’s high-end flatbed printer, which impressed with its high uptime, ease of use and the prospect of a long service life.

High workload

As a digital print service provider active in areas such as event and exhibition construction, Richnerstutz faces diverse and demanding customer requirements, combined with tight deadlines and, at times, large print runs. Accordingly, both the machinery and the staff must be flexible and absolutely reliable. “Kudu fulfils this 100 per cent,” confirms Rinaldo Stalder.

Promising prospects

Richnerstutz has challenging new projects in the pipeline and is confident of delivering them on time and to the highest standard thanks to the new flatbed printer. “Kudu is a perfect fit for our current product mix and market opportunities,” says Stalder. He plans to operate the printer in two shifts – and, if needed, add an additional unattended shift for roll to roll jobs. While he does not anticipate a major increase in overall volumes, he intends to respond flexibly and confidently to seasonal peaks and changing customer requirements.

Versatile applications

Thanks to the roll to roll option, the Kudu flatbed printer processes not only rigid media but also flexible materials such as banners, textiles and films. The extended colour configuration – CMYK plus light colours, white, varnish and primer – expands its versatility, including the ability to print tactile and visual effects. The oversize option enables Kudu to handle boards up to 3.2 × 4 metres, even though the flatbed itself measures ‘only’ 3.2 × 2 metres. All of this creates opportunities to tap into new lines of business.

Looking back on the investment, Stalder concludes: “From the evaluation phase, through extensive testing at swissQprint in Kriessern, to the on-time delivery and smooth, rapid installation, the entire purchasing process was a positive experience – from A to Z.”
